Aquaculture
and aquatic product processing
The division “Aquaculture and aquatic products processing” is located in GUS16 and GUS02 buildings in the upper Park of Royal Palace in Portici. The aim of the division is to build innovation in the "Blue economy" through the development of farming techniques for molluscs, fish, algae and microalgae in the marine and the freshwater environments.
In addition to the support laboratories, the section is equipped with: recirculating aquaculture systems for marine and freshwater organisms; raceway tanks and photobioreactors for microalgae cultivation; three innovative aquaponic systems and a processing room for pilot processing of innovative products, semi-finished products and bioactive principles for the food, feed, and nutraceutic and cosmaceutic industry.
